The Driver Confidence package includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and rear parking sensors. The LT Convenience package adds premium cloth upholstery (with simulated leather inserts), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless ignition and entry, and a six-way power-adjustable driver seat. There are four major packages for the Trax LT. The infotainment system receives satellite radio, and a 110-volt outlet is added for the backseat area. Moving up to the LT gets you roof rails, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, heated mirrors, remote vehicle start, cruise control and a storage drawer under the passenger seat. Inside you'll find a 60/40-split folding rear seat, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, air-conditioning, OnStar communications (with a 4G LTE connection and a Wi-Fi hotpsot), Chevy's MyLink infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen interface, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, two USB ports and a six-speaker sound system. The base Trax LS comes with 16-inch steel wheels (alloys if you upgrade to all-wheel drive), power-adjustable manual-folding side mirrors, keyless entry and a rearview camera. Front-wheel-drive models have front disc brakes and drum brakes in the rear, and all-wheel-drive models get disc brakes at all four corners. Also standard is a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Buyers looking for a little more ruggedness might try the Jeep Renegade or the go-anywhere Subaru Crosstrek, which also offers a comprehensive suite of driver aids and active safety features.Īll three trims are powered by a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine (138 hp, 148 ft-lb of torque). The sporty Mazda CX-3 provides an engaging driving experience, while the Honda HR-V is surprisingly roomy and versatile. ![]() The Trax certainly has its strengths, but its weaknesses make it hard for us to recommend.Īs such, more recent competitors bring a lot to the table and are worth a look. The interior is smartly designed to take advantage of the available space, and the seats are comfortable. Still, there's no denying the Trax is priced competitively and offers appealing features such as Chevy's MyLink infotainment system as standard equipment. After all, the Trax's biggest competitors have all either been completely redesigned or introduced fresh in the intervening years. So in spite of the improvements, the 2018 Trax's ride quality, performance and fuel efficiency all lag behind the rest of the class. Sure, if you live in Alaska or high mountains where you drive in snow for 5 or 6 months of the year, you may need AWD, but for most of the rest of us, the AWD just uses more gas and is an excuse for car companies to raise the price.Last year, Chevy gave the Trax a face-lift both outside and in and added more technology, but the underlying mechanicals weren't changed. Most people who think they need AWD do not. Neither of these are important to me, Chevy did not compromise on safety, but I am more than willing to give up the power driver seat, power tailgate and AWD. No power Driver seat, (Power driver seat is only available in ACTIV model). I love the Maverick, but dont try to buy one! I dont want an "allocation", I want a car! Honda's, Toyotas, and Subaru's are selling "allocations" not cars, in many/most models. One of the best things: You can actually buy a new TRAX. The Trax just does almost everything better, at lower cost, than the others I owned. Within the past 5 years, I have owned 2 Hondas, (CRV and Civic), 3 Toyotas (Corolla, Camry, and Sienna) 1 Ford Fusion, and a Subaru Legacy, and the least expensive and best was the 2024 TRAX 2RS. I got 36mpg COMBINED city and hiway, but I am not using my car at the race track. Its quick!Īs far as fuel economy, I beat the EPA by quite a bit. ![]() ![]() The Active noise cancellation seems to work well, as it is fairly quiet.ĭont let the sound of 3 cylinder 1.2 liter fool you. I also LOVE the wireless Apple Carplay, and wireless charging. The info system is also easy to setup and use. For example, the … backup camera is huge, has dynamic guidelines, and is crisp with great vision and resolution. The infotainment system is by far the best in class. My priorities are 1)Safety 2) Value 3)Comfort 4) Looks If you are looking for an affordable, but good quality car, keep reading. The 2024 Trax "hits the sweet spot" packing in lots of important details which matter, and cutting costs on things that dont matter.
